Reasons simulations are created:
1. Either to test someone or somethings reaction to something, or train them in how to react by giving them lifelike experience. For example flight simulations.
- Simulation is realistic so that person or people feel like the event is really happening even though it isn't.
2. Predict future events or changes based on current environment or other potential environments. For example climate change based on current levels of pollutions or potentially reduced levels.
- Based on mathematical/scientific research and often using computer modelling.
3. Gaming. For example war games.
- Believable but not always true to life - often includes fantastical or fictional characters, environments.
